Very early, ETSI-med has understood the importance of Ethics in modern biomedical research.
In particular, special attention has been given to patient's informed, free consent and to pseudo-anonymization procedures allowing both
patient's rights protection and effective research protocols.
Experts from ETSI-med have been invited worldwide for counseling governments and/or grant agencies in the process of elaborating laws or guidelines.
In 2006, a legal expertise delivered by the University of Halle-Wittenberg confirmed that ETSI-med's biobanking concept fulfills the
current legal standards and requirements in Germany and in Europe.
Very importantly, ETSI-med is a non-profit organization. ETSI-med is providing public benefit and helps advancing science.
ETSI-med is operating on a more noble plane than other, profit-oriented biobanks. For-profit biobanks are forbidden by law in several European countries.
